2014 NY Tech Summit Recap

10 Years and NY Tech Summit Keeps Getting Better!

This year’s NY Tech Summit was filled with great people, conversation, and technology! On June 19-20, hundreds of IT professionals gathered at Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Upstate New York to explore new ways to drive business value through technology. Attendees experienced unparalleled networking and educational opportunities with 30+ industry-leading IT exhibitors and experts. From the trade show floor product demonstrations to the bacon cupcakes, it’s no surprise our 10th annual event was a hit with attendees.

We would like to thank everyone for attending NY Tech Summit 2014, including our speakers and sponsors: CXtec, TERACAI, Cisco, AvePoint, Time Warner Cable Business Class, Schneider Electric, and CABLExpress. Be sure to save the date for next year, NY Tech Summit 2015 will be held June 4-5 at Turning Stone Resort and Casino. We're looking forward to another great year and hope you'll be able to join us!

In case you may have missed out this year, here are our Top 5 Favorite Moments of 2014 NY Tech Summit:

1. Dux Keynote Presentation & Book Signing

Well if it wasn’t clear from the endless social media buzz, keynote speaker, Dux Raymond Sy, CTO at AvePoint Public Sector surpassed all expectations and then some! There’s no question in our minds why Dux has been named one of the "Top 25 SharePoint Influencers." Sy’s presentation, "Lead the Responsive Organization Revolution: How to Inspire, Transform and Facilitate Business Driven IT." focused on practical steps that enable IT departments to deliver maximum business value and promote lasting business-driven IT adoption.

Dux delivered a talented mix of expertise in an engaging and entertaining way. His message was not only relevant to our audience but was presented in a way that made it unforgettable and fun. We were honored to have such an important topic delivered with infectious enthusiasm and a punch of humor. The overall reaction of the audience was a unanimous 2 thumbs up. Not only did Dux draw people into the room, but we had to force them to leave! You know you have a hit when everyone is still talking about the presentation the next day.

As if Dux wasn’t enough of a crowd pleaser, he held a book signing at the AvePoint Booth of his very own, “SharePoint 2010 for Project Management.” The first 25 people received a FREE copy of his book, while others with their own copies were able to get it signed by the keynote speaker. What a guy!

2. Engaging Classroom Sessions & Speakers

This year’s conference agenda offered over 25 comprehensive educational sessions and roundtable discussions on current and emerging technologies. The agenda incorporated topics related to value-centered IT; process and operational optimization; virtualization and data center; visibility, performance and analysis; cloud; and security. Attendees received world-class training focused on driving business value from experienced industry speakers including, Cisco, Byrne Dairy, Cornell University, Schneider Electric, SRC, and many more.

3. Encore at The Gig Networking Event

Directly following our networking reception held on the exhibit floor, we hosted a NY Tech Summit exclusive attendee party held in honor of our 10th anniversary celebration! Encore at the Gig took place at Turning Stone's new Exit 33 venue, from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. We understand that it can be a long and tiring day, so what better way to celebrate 10 years then with some appetizers, cold brews crafted by Erie Brewing Company, and great live music by Just Joe. Thanks to our Encore at the Gig sponsors, Schneider Electric, AvePoint, Great Lakes Case & Cabinet, Cisco and Dell, attendees had to opportunity to continue networking one-on-one with IT professionals in the industry.

4. Surprise Guest Appearance from Batman & Friends

During the networking reception Thursday evening, NYTS goers experienced a true blast from the past as Batman swooped through the tradeshow floor accompanied by his heroic companions, Robin and Batgirl. Our surprise guests quickly flew over to the photo booth where all attendees were able to get their pictures taken with the superheroes. Things continued to get even battier when Batman and friends made their way underground to the Batcave, otherwise known as The Gig, for our 10th anniversary network event.

It’s a little different perspective than I’ve gotten from other tradeshows, other organizations, other groups. That’s the part that has made it more interesting.
