Tech Trade Show Guide: Enterprise Connect (VoiceCon)

Enterprise Connect is a voice, video and data media conference and exhibition. Formerly known as VoiceCon, the name change was necessary to reflect the multi-media communications focus that extends beyond just voice.

After 10 years as VoiceCon, what’s changing as the event transitions to Enterprise Connect? Not much, according to their white paper. Attendees can expect to learn about unified communications, IP networking and emerging technologies as in years past – only now the event’s name reflects those advances in technology.  Key issues to be addressed at Enterprise Connect 2011 include changes and costs in the IP telephony market, SIP and Open Source deployment, security threats in converged/IP telephony networks, and troubleshooting for IP-based voice networks.

Attendees include IT, telecom and networking decision-makers, applications developers, equipment manufacturers, systems deals and analysts and investors.

Enterprise Connect continues to serve as a year-round resource, including webinars, online presentations, a blog and Twitter feed, and weekly e-newsletters.

We have come to NY Tech Summit for four years now and my team and I get a good variety of technical, business, and strategic sessions to complement our work objectives. I like that there is a balance of end users, consultants, and vendors to present and facilitate the sessions. The interaction is candid and engaging, but not a sales pitch. Being a regional conference helps, it is the right amount of time and location for a couple days to reenergize my team and refocus on our objectives. There seems to be quite a bit of peer discussion with a smaller conference, which I like.
