Data Center topologies are moving from Three Layer to Leaf and Spine. Along with Leaf and Spine Software Defined Networking is helping the move to Converged Infrastructure and Hyperconvergence. As the individual components for computing are coming in smaller packages such as 1u and 2u rack unit machines the cabling is getting compacted. The vast majority of the connections are In-Row and In-Cabinet and accomplished with Twinax Direct Attach Copper and Active Optical Cables. Planning ahead and standardizing on cabinet equipment rack positions will help selecting the best cable for the connection. Having the cables at proper color, length, breakout and labeled will ease installation, cable congestion, cooling and repeatability which in turn will reduce downtime related to connectivity.
