Ransomware has become the most prevalent and profitable type of cyber-crime in modern history and is on track to become a billion-dollar industry. With the recent rise of Ransomware as a Service (RaaS), practically anyone with criminal intent can get into the ransomware attack business. Within a day, the WannaCry attack was reported to have infected more than 230,000 computers in 150 countries. Recent high-profile attacks include Petya, Locky, TeslaCrypt, CryptoLocker, CryptoWall and CryptoDefense.
